Thank you Sharmiii :) I understand what you said.. "Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak." I totally get this. My body, my very human thoughts can be very weak, desiring possessions, certain situations to happen, and in the midst of this, yes I totally want to do God’s ( now you know whom I speak of here.. lol ) will, the spirit is willing in me. So how do I reduce the influence of my human desire? Oh whatever I think I am going to budge to me temptation... After all I did write Cultivating God.

I'll be the first..

Why now? Why again? I really don't know or have any answers to these questions now but its there.. I thought if I bite the bullet. Take the hit. Even though it's painful, like a plunge into ice cold water, my heart and mind, like the body, would slowly adjust to the changes in atmosphere.

I was wrong.. here is my confession, I’m Weak. So for maybe a minute or an hour or for however long it takes before my pride take over once again, I’m going to be okay with not being okay. And I’m going to say that i miss you and I’m going to admit that i stood in front of your house for over an hour tonight just because all i wanted all day was a chance to see you.

You don’t survive in me
because of memories;
nor are you mine because
of a lovely longing’s strength.

What does make you present
is the ardent detour
that a slow tenderness
traces in my blood.

I do not need
to see you appear;
being born sufficed for me
to lose you a little less.

Yes, I left that door open for your return
But now I know the truth, just go and let me grieve
Don't look back; I am no longer your concern
Just close the door behind you as you leave.....

transliterating to words : I'm singing close only to your ears;
I'm speaking only to your heart;
I'm a visual treat only to your eyes;
I'll close my eyes only in your lap;

FYI - I know I can do a better job than this.. but it was just a midnight madness ;)

Where is my summer????? After another cloud-filled day, I think I’m ready to throw in the towel. It seems the only way to get any ‘summer’ out of the summer here is to leave town. Even if I go 30 miles, I know that I’ll be getting more sunshine than around here. And I swear if I hear that ggHH&&**ggU* quote one more time…! Thanks Sharmi!!!

But for as much as I look forward to the foretold September summer, its arrival will mean the end of another short summer. Anyways today is quite a special day for my good old friend Chandru!! He is a first time father since 9:35pm today!!! Congrats to you buddy!!! You are getting oooold!! lol

Anyway I think as one grows older however, their romantic and interpersonal relationships matures, and they actually became more self-honest about their feelings; At least that is what I think and hope I am becoming. But to answer your question: Yes, I do one day want to attach my name to a very loose title: “father”.

Weekend Waves..

Whoo hoo! What a weekend it was! Not only did I have the best of the best times at the beach, but I also have the worst after surfing sore ever…yeah I tried surfing for the first time at Rehoboth Beach, DE! Thanks to the super powered bloody strong waves with equal current, my buddies and I had a blast!!! Surf Party!! Every day of summer is precious to me. So in an attempt to make the most of warm days, blue skies and late evenings, I tried surfing. Due to my natural rebellious nature I took it to my self to try and ride a strong and violent wave without the proper guidance resulting to a bruised arm, leg and left side of my face.

The wave was so strong that it took me some 8 feet above the water and slammed me deep under the water in the rough stony sands twice!!! Though it was super fun at first the 2nd throw left me exhausted with a bloody mark from the sand and the stone on my body and face.

There are millions of nature’s mysteries;
That I do not understand nor lay claim;
The harsh now billowing west wind’s eyes;
Engulf white-tipped frothy waves and collide;
The midnight storm showers and lightning did mate;
The fresh rain melts lavender petals in my wake;
I was entranced by its walls of gloom, dark and dim;
Manhood beats gallantly finally ridden of their sin;
Be Inquisitive;
Touch it;
Taste it;
Smell it;
Feel it;
Record it with Clarity;
Be Alive to Everything.

Not again!!!

It happened again!!! And it is only 8 months since the last time!!! But at least this time around it was only my rear right tire. It was a quite a big piece of unrecognizable metal that punctured it!!

It was 8:08 this morning, and I just had passed AACC. Suddenly I felt loosing control of my real wheel, so after turning into the TD bank parking lot I reluctantly stepped out of car to find a flat...although I have changed a flat tire before and it is a no brainer, it is not something I need today! So after calling and letting my branch know of the situation I took to changing the flat to my donut. And I must say I was very impressed with my skills, it took me not more than three minutes to change the flat. It seems my triceps work out if finally paying off.. lol
Anyway it was 5 mins past my time due when I entered my office. So it was not too too bad.. oh and my baby was sleeping in the car all the while!! Yeah!! she comes to work with me :) Anyway I am happy for her :)

Not again!!!

A bigger problem..

Occasionally, I'll write a post that I truly wished everyone would read. This is one of those posts for me. But first, let me clarify that this is by no mean a generic advice to you my friend. All I’m doing here is jotting down my point of views. I am and will always be encouraging you or anyone for that matter to continue enriching themselves with knowledge as much as possible; be it through school/system education or self education. Now, I am not old enough to say “back in my day” but I do remember having my head in books for countless hours during my secondary (high) school and college years. At the same time, I have to admit that I was really blessed for I did not have to work or get a student loan to pay for my education.

Yes, this post is about student loans. A big problem in the financial industry that the big wicks are trying so very hard to hide. Thus, when I stumbled upon a little factoid today, I couldn't’t believe it! By factoid I refer to our current educational system, which I believe is the root cause of this financial mess we have entered in the name of student loan. See graph below:
The above graph from frontline suggests that the for-profit colleges cost three times more than the public and non-profit colleges. Yes, we all know that it is a no brainier for any for-profit company to be non profitable! duh!! So, I am not going to take my fury on these legit for-profit colleges. But, the system which allows it to happen. Student lives and taxpayer/investor cash are all at stake. What was once a cost-benefit decision is now a foregone conclusion: You must get a college degree. Like all bubbles, the college bubble has been pumped to excess by societal and market failures. Among these: the societal failure that for many, a public high school education is often inadequate or irrelevant; and market failures created by distortions in what passes for the market place for a college education - e.g., tax-payer funding that encourage unbridled growth in supply and unchecked appetite for it. (And in an environment where super-loose monetary policy already encourages mallinvestments in education, fiscal distortions are the last thing you need.) But how many of us are actually aware of this? Is it time to be paying close attention to our failing system?

Although the for profit colleges enroll only ten percent of all post-secondary students, for-profit schools receive almost a quarter of federal financial aid! yes! FEDERAL FINANCIAL AID!! Go figure! And, FYI - the the Department of Education figures for 2009 show that 44 percent of the students who defaulted within three years of graduation were from for-profit schools, leading to serious questions about one of the key pillars of the for-profit degree college movement: that their degrees help students boost their earning power. Isn't it time we expose this failing industry, and why it may be the biggest scam foisted upon Americans since the ARM swindles that have practically crippled our economy...permanently.

On the contrary, I do agree that there are some benifts in a for-profit college; read the previous post. But at the same time, as much as I believe that a college education is a good investment, it is not priceless! So go get your college education but be bright while choosing it; here are some alternatives to think about: work while you attend school to help pay expenses; go to a junior college for the first two years; go to a public university instead of a high-cost private institution; seek out an employer than offers tuition assistance and last but not the least save money in advance to pay for college.

A bigger problem..

Throbbing drums, addictive arrangement of tough, rhythmic verses and melodic choruses open the single, punctuated by cunning synthesizers. The verses have an interesting beat made up of Jacksons own vocal humming and then some sensual lyrics over the top. Jackson's prowess as a lyricist has in my opinion, always seemed to never get enough credit, always seemed like a backseat to his exceptional sounds and magnifying, electrifying dance work. Did I say sensual? Well, I meant to say lecherously an astounding song.

The strong and dangerous feel combined with super catchy rhythms makes it an infectious song, particularly Jackson's high-pitched singing at the chorus. In the second stanza; supremely catchy if underutilized "there's something about you baby" chorus, is an undeniable highlight to showcase my words. Michael Jackson's music is as untouchable as his dancing. Nobody can come near what he did for music. I consider him a genius not only because of his dance but because he had consistently astonishing records. So, having said this, I consider him up with the Bob Marley, Bob Dylan and Beatles.

Listen; read a few lines of this song which talk about keep an intimate relationship in the dark:

There's Something I Have To Say To You
If You Promise You'll Understand
I Cannot Contain Myself
When In Your Presence
I'm So Humble, Touch Me
Don't Hide Our Love
Woman To Man.

The Cove

This year’s Oscar-winning feature documentary, The Cove, an astonishing film that exposes the bloody truth behind the worldwide trade in dolphins.

The Cove is a remarkable documentary that follows the brave exploits of American activist Richard O’Barry as he tries to blow the lid of the bloody international trade in dolphins by exposing what happens in a tiny cove near the Japanese town of Taiji. O’Barry himself was once a prominent figure in the very industry he now fights. He captured and trained the five dolphins involved in the making of the popular TV series Flipper.

Using a crack team of free divers, surveillance experts, scientists and special effects wizards, The Cove, which has been described as an “eco-thriller”, will entertain you as much as it’s guaranteed to shock and infuriate you. The film was beautifully shot and directed by renowned photographer Louie Psihoyos. It has caused an uproar around the globe, including in Japan itself, and has already made an invaluable contribution to putting an end to the barbaric practices it unveils. A must-see!

Did I?

Do you want me to tell you about my delight? or despair? How last Friday morning in office number three my own muscles suggested its origins, not in marriage, not adolescence or even childhood but in utero? It is not just a person’s physical constitution, their intelligence, their education, or even their social conditioning that enables them to withstand hardship.

Much more significant is their inner development. And while some may be able to survive through sheer willpower, the ones who suffer the least are those who have a high degree of patience and courage in the face of adversity. Here is a good song from a good movie followed by a poem by me.. inspiration is you :)

Naata samajhe na yeh dil mera..
Jaanu na jaanu na isako kya huva..

Did I tell you?
The most deafening silence,
Is NOT getting to hear your voice.

Did I tell you?
You bring a joy to my heart,
I've never felt before.

Did I tell you?
Whenever we say goodbye,
whenever we part,
know I hold you dearly,
deep inside my heart.

Are you thinking of me too?

Did I?

A R Rahman is repeating his sounds... wait have I said it before? Okay let me try this again;
Mr Rahman's choices of sounds for the "futuristic" "Robo" movie is very amateurish in my opinion. On top of it I hear Liquid Dance - Slumdog Millionaire, Kathal Vetukili - Parasuram, Thigu Thigu - Ah Aah, New title song - New, Usure Poguthey - Raavanan, Hello Doctor - Kadhal Desam, Boom Boom - Boys, O Rey Chhori- Lagaan, Once upon a time.. - Lagaan.. and the list goes on. Yet I must agree it is quite convincing too. I guess it could be because of my expectation for an ARR - "dummy" Shankar combo. But if Rajini-ARR combo like Muthu is to be considered then I am sorry to say but this album sounds phony to be called A R Rahmans'.

Moving on to the individual tracks:
Puthiya Manidha sang by S P B with supporting vocals by A R R and his Daughter Khadeeja starts slowly and brings about some interesting pitch rendering with supporting orchestration, the songs sounds like the 90s Rahman is peeking with his lets experiment hat on. 3.9\5

Arima Arima by Hariharan & Sadhana Sargam has a very catchy rhythm with the melody that sounds to be based on raag Keeravani is sure to keep you dancing. And with Hari rocking his aggressive vocals this song will be the chart topper. 4.5/5

Kilimanjaro sang by Javed Ali & (Chi)nmayi is a naughty number with Javed Ali breezing thru Tamil. The song seems to be using a lot of persuasive lyrics with matching percussion. 4/5

Boom Boom Robot da sang by Yogi B, Keerthi Sagathia, Swetha Mohan and Tanvi Shah is one of the four robotic sounding songs. Intersting lyrics. The song maybe like by the wannabe bros of Chennai. 3.2/5

Chitti Dance Showcase with vocals by Pradeep Vijay, Pravin Mani & Yogi B sounds like ARR was in a "wotever" mood. 1.4/5

Irumbile oru Irudhayam sang by A.R.Rahman & Kash n’ Krissy has some very surprisingly good vocals by A R Rahman, btw he sounds very different too. A peppy number should give us the boosting energy to dance on the floor. Oh and the Gwen Stefani sounding gal adds a ton of attitude to the song. 3.6/5

Kadhal Anukkal sang by Vijay Prakash & Shreya Ghosal has some nice guitars intros and that about it. 2.5/5

Overall I think this album just like any other Rahman album will grow on you but to me lacks soul. And some horrible lyrics adds to it..

Moving!!!

Okay, this may sound very dramatic.. but I mean every word of it!!! Next to death of a loved one or divorce, moving is one of the most stressful times of ones life. Yes I know, if given the choice most people would opt to move rather than suffer a death or divorce although when you go through that process as a mover, it doesn’t feel like that at the time.

So anyway, if you absolutely must move, here is my word of advice: Do not attempt to do it without sleeping the night before. (That means no last minute panic and packing.)

I can’t claim that I totally didn’t sleep. I slept an hour from 5:30 am to 6:30 am on Saturday. And went to bed at 2 am and woke up at 5 am on Sunday as I had to drive my bro back as he needed to go to work. That’s definitely not good.

My friends (who helped out with the moving) can all attest to the fact that I looked and acted like a zombie all day. I had to operate on auto pilot: Walk where I was needed, carry what needed carrying, clean what needed cleaning, unpack what needed unpacking, like a mindless robot.

Speaking of Robot, Enthiran is out. No. not the movie but the songs! After listening to it in my zombie mode I must say it is not too too bad. Look out for a detail post soon :)
