Reunion in Death!

Sneha stumble into her bedroom almost feebly, and look at the power and presence within her. It is a paradox — it seems that suddenly the darkness in her memory and the Faith in her intellect join forces and let her stand in the door way of Will. Faith beckons her to do rather than rest in darkness — to accomplish rather than question why.. as she slowly lifts the receiver to her ear.

It's cold. Her hand, poised over the keypad, hesitates. What is the number? She puts the phone on its hook and searches for the paper with Shreya's number on it. She knows the number. She memorized it yesterday, when she finally called information to get it. It took a while for the operator to find it.
Shreya moved since the last time Sneha spoke to her. Not surprising, it's been seventeen
years.

Seventeen years -- a lifetime ago. Certainly, nothing is the same. Most definitely not
Sneha. Seventeen years ago she was young and beautiful -- and in love. Hopelessly in
love. Now, married and two children later, she's just taking it one day at a time.

Biting her lip, Sneha perches on the end of the bed, her hand once again hovering over
the phone on the table in front of her. Ever since she heard that Shreya's son, Mathan, died
in a car accident, the same thoughts keep running through her mind. "Will Shreya even
remember me? We were best friends for ten years. How could she forget? The real
question is -- would she rather forget. Will she even talk to me? Has enough time lapsed
to heal the wounds? Has Shreya ever forgiven me?"

Looking back, Sneha could see that it was all blown out of proportion at the time. After
all nothing really ever happened. But Shreya never believed that. At least not that she ever
told Sneha.

It took a few months, after that blowout scene between them at the restaurant, for
Sneha to put the hurt behind her and move on. A year later, she got married and
regretted that Shreya was not there to be her bridesmaid. Shreya never knew she had a
namesake -- Sneha's first daughter, little Rani, who died at six months old, from SIDS.
"Thank God, for Latha. I thought the world ended when little Rani died. Latha is my pride
and joy, my reason for living, but little Rani is never far from my thoughts or my heart."

Now, Sneha's heard that Shreya has lost her son, too. Sneha's sister told her three days
ago. She read about it in the local paper last week. "Oh Shreya , I wish I were there for
you now. I want you to know that I know what you're going through. I want you to know
that you're not alone."

For the umpteenth time in three days, Sneha remembers the pain of losing a child.
Drying her eyes, her hands trembling, she picks up the phone and dials the number. A
sad, yet familiar voice answers on the third ring, "Hello."

"Hello, Shreya?"

Here is yet another few favorite lines by Oriah!

It doesn’t interest me if the story you are telling me
is true.
I want to know if you can
disappoint another
to be true to yourself.
If you can bear the accusation of betrayal
and not betray your own soul.
If you can be faithless
and therefore trustworthy.

I want to know if you can be with joy
mine or your own
if you can dance with wildness
and let the ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes
without cautioning us
to be careful
to be realistic
to remember the limitations of being human.

p/s Once I again I declare; It shook me. Not the kind of shake you forget about in the morning, the kind that stays in your bones for days reminding you of the very moment it happened. So, go on and read her book for your self!

I recently came across the blog "Tengo ganas de viajar" roughly meaning I have a desire to see you. The author of the blog is Mandi Schmitt, one of my employees sister who makes extraordinary trips across the globe. She is now in India, and I must say that her blog is for readers/writers that understands what one might go through in trying to get that travel experience out of his/her subconscious. The blog is refreshing in many ways.

I am not recommending because she is in India now but because she writes with captivating passion and most of all being true to herself. So, go on and start reading it for your self here:

I am just four pages into the The Perpetual War for Perpetual Peace: How We Got to Be So Hated by Gore Vidal and am spell bounded! The next in line is Oklahoma City Bombing and the Politics of Terror nu David Hoffman as it is recommended by Sir Vidal himself!

The last few months of my reading really dropped off, but it tends to go in cycles. I started reading when I was in my primary school, at that time it was all about the web chronicles of Spider man!  Then in my later part I read books with a lot of sentiments and love stories. And today I see myself inclined more towards the non fictional, biographic, real stuff, religious, atheistic, books.  I do now know what tomorrow will bring to me but I can assure you it will increase my general knowledge, as I have learned stuff off of books that I did not at school. It increased my language skills as I absorb in the reading material. I get more creative through reading books, so in the near future,  I will have more ideas for writing more perspectives. So, I encourage you to get along with me and start reading....

Leprosy thru Silence!

How, exactly, broken does someone have to be before it’s ok for them to pretend I no longer exist? Yet again and again I go back, like scar tissue on your skin the more I surround myself with love the more my heart heals, but every once in a while I hit that scar tissue and it stings like a bee.

I hope it is not about realizing, painfully, you’ve kept that voice inside yourself, locked away from even yourself. And you step back and see that your jailer has changed faces. You realize you’ve become your own jailer. Whatever it may be, time and again I rephrase - in this 'samasara' one has to be truthful to him/her self. So please talk to me, bitch @ me if you have to but do not keep it in you.

Hers; I share one of my favorite quote ever:

"It is often said that before you die your life passes before your eyes. It is in fact true. It's called living." -Terry Pratchett

p/s when time permits read Small Gods by him.

ROMEO:
If I profane with my unworthiest hand
This holy shrine, the gentle fine is this:
My lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready stand
To smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss.

ROMEO:
Then move not, while my prayer's effect I take.
Thus from my lips, by yours, my sin is purged.

JULIET:
Then have my lips the sin that they have took.

ROMEO:
Sin from thy lips? O trespass sweetly urged!
Give me my sin again.

JULIET:
You kiss by the book.

Reading your mind..

It all started with my all time comic Hero Spider Man, I read all kinds of stuff: books, magazines, newspapers, blogs, and even micro blogs like Twitter. I also read a wide variety of genres. My tastes are very eclectic. Mostly, I just enjoying discovering and experiencing new things. Am I posting for a profile, one might ask! But no, I am just stating this.

Anyway currently I am reading two books that I like to share:

God is not great and The love dare.

God is not great is filled with venom and vitriol that it is easy to get caught up in the passion and not pay much attention to what is actually being said, which is smart and well-thought-out. In fact, it shows a lifetime of thought, as it stretches from Christoper Hitchens as a child to Hitchens as a disgruntled adult. Christoper Hitchens is the author btw. However, this well-thought-out thesis is damaged by something that has plagued all people throughout time, and one that was recently brought up in a History Channel presentation about the influence of the Star Wars movies on our culture (yes, Star Wars. It's relevant.). One of the commentators brought up Anakin Skywalker's somewhat immature comment "If you're not with me, you're my enemy," and Obi-Wan's response "Only a Sith deals in absolutes."

Hence; I think if the book had simply been titled "How Religion Poisons Everything I would have agreed to it more. And not to forget the fact that I was/am looking for some sort of continuum! ;)

The Love Dare was presented to me buy a buddy.. the book is about trying to be better spouses and be more patient, we are faced with wifes/husbands who are the antithesis to everything in this book. The Love Dare's answer to that? Love is unconditional. BULLSHIT I said! LMAO.

But go ahead and read it if you can ... quite interesting. FYI- is a "christened" book by Stephen Kendrick.

Perusing to pursue!

Be shameless, be persuasive! What do you love? or Who do you love? I don't know about you but I can tell you that I love myself more than any others first. Mind you, it does not mean I love myself only but all I am saying is its always me first... I know it not a very appealing statement to a few, the few who do not dare face the truth. Anyway I’m currently in the middle of “Soul Coaching” which so far has been wonderful in leading exercises that are clearing up a lot in my life. I've been in a reading mood the last few weeks, and I just picked up book number four. I think my brain must have needed some quiet, some time to focus. And, the reading helps. Anyway here are the titles and a one or two line thoughts of it ;)

Hack by Mellisa Plaut, a cab driver in New York, who blogged (So naturally I liked her style of writing ;)) about her experiences as a cabbie. Her blog afforded a realistic glimpse into the city’s life, and caught the eye of publishing house last year. The book, Hack: How I Stopped Worrying About What to Do With My Life and Started Driving a Yellow Cab is a very good read... very insightful.

Too soon old, too late smart by Gordon Livingston, is something that I can see myself read again and again and still be touched by it. Here is a quote below; it won't spoil the book for you, if you ever mean to read it, just like Dr. Livingston's titles didn't change what I would take away from his observations.

"We love someone when the importance of his or her needs and desires (to us) rises to the level of our own."

The Selfish Gene by Richard Dawkins is a very manual and manifesto book for everyone who will consider reading it. I consider myself spectacularly unqualified to hold much of an opinion on Evolutionary Biology, but I found the book extremely interesting. So its all your call now!

Ruth just pulled another book off of her shelf, and I'll start it today. Ruth, an ardent reader has a similar taste to mine when it comes to books, so I am looking forward to it. Anyway the book is titled Oogy and it is by Larry Levin.

I Read...

Below a quote from the book "Daily Afflictions: The Agony of Being Connected to Everything in the Universe." by Andrew Boyd followed by Bob Dylan’s All I Really Want To Do:

“We’re all seeking that special person who is right for us. But if you’ve been through enough relationships, you begin to suspect there’s no right person, just different flavors of wrong. . . it takes a lot of living to grow fully into your own wrongness. It isn’t until you finally run up against your deepest demons, your unsolvable problems—the ones that make you truly who you are—that you’re ready to fine a life-long mate. Only then do you finally know what you are looking for. You’re looking for the wrong person. But not just any wrong person: the right wrong person—someone you can gaze lovingly upon, and think, ‘This is the problem I want to have.’”

What is "he" Reading - part 2

A continiuation to my last post; I was absolutely touched. But any words that I use to describe it won't do the story justice, to capture the grief, the love, the power of music, the power of a creative act to supplant reality. I deeply suggest reading 'The Song is You" by Arthur Phillips. For a much better articulated review of the book, see this beauty from The Washington Post.
