So, I got a leather couch couple of days ago in an attempt to keep my dogs and their hair off of it. I told my bro to keep our doggies off of it so we could keep it nice. As soon as I said that "she" jumped on it, and as I picked her up to put her back on the floor, her claws dragged across it causing a very faint scratch and it was just the beginning.FML!
Today my bro as usual was the last to leave the house and unlike the yesterdays he forgot to crate "her". And no surprise I had to return home to a well ripped off leather sofa!! I was furious.. furious enough to kill her but then she is a puppy!
Ok, so I went hiking over the weekend and didn't encounter any bears. Maybe I’m an idiot (ok, keep your opinions to yourself, thank you...), but I’m disappointed that I didn't meet any bears in the woods. But then again I only went to Great Falls, VA!!! A friend of mine told me that he had seen bears in the woods near where I went hiking, and that's kind of why I went hiking over the weekend. But I saw no bears :( But I did see some eagles and hawks…bugs.
But anyway it was lots of fun and tiring. My dogs loved it too :) They kept going and going.. guess they don’t get tired that easily. I especially like the fact that they don't really care if you're there or not. They kept going!! So you are left with no choice but to just keep going!! The trees, water fall and the animals.. what a sight full of serenity. It is funny but most of the things in the human world (car washes, malls, political parties, tv shows, etc) would disappear without human patronage and attention. But not the woods (and, well, nature) are seemingly disinterested in whether we're paying attention or not. And that's why the woods (and, well, nature) are so calming. I loved it!!
When I went to the bathroom at five thirty to pee, the door was closed. So I went to the toilet downstairs, and then came back up to fumble around for my gym suite and the winter coat from the other room. My bro was still in the bathroom, hyperventilating, groaning. Then he sort of howled. He came out after being in there maybe half an hour total. It is very unusual from my brother to be up so early in the morning. I later came to know that he had a class in Olney and so had to leave early.
Well, anyway I took my car keys and left as I was running late myself to the gym. I walked out the door alone with nothing but my absurd good health, to run a 30 minute tempo run. Tempo run of 30 minutes would begin with the first 0-10 minute easy running, build to 10-25 minutes near the middle, then 25-30 minutes easy toward the end. After my temp run I sat down for my morning meditation, a new gig that I have started today.. Somehow, I have to fit this huge thing of teaching my self to sit tranquil into my morning routine… I can see it to be a challenge! lol
I came back from the gym around six fourty five to find the TV screaming “The great debate: Michelle Obama doesn’t wear Panty hose, but lots of women still do” After turning off the TV that my brother left on!! I took my dogs out to walk, to a windy rainy(not good) morning!!! and by the time I hit the shower it was 7:30. I rushed to get the cooked noodles from last night into a container for my lunch today. Treated my dogs to their daily chew and left them in the house (It's a "Leaving Las Vegas" sort of feeling) to: play with their ball, take a nap, play catch up down the stairs for a while, then another nap, play detective; sniffing around, take a nap, play with each other, chew on things that should not be chewed, then another nap and laze around or play together before taking the final nap before my arrival back from work.
On my way to work, I have found the new hobby of listening to Chennai FM (TAMIL RADIO!!!!) YAY! This morning it was Keeranjani and Poornima MC-ing. It was a program where listeners called in to play rhyming words game. The winner gets to choose a song of their choice. It was quite a fun filled game! I learned a few funny- rhyming Tamil words! I love listening to the radio as I grew up listening to radio in the morning. When I used to be in Singapore my mother used to switch on the radio early in the morning around 5:30 AM. As a matter of fact, some times the radio is on 24/7. My morning activities go in parallel with the radio tunes till I take the bus to school around 7:55 AM. Oh God! I miss those days.
My college days in France were busy and I was not too much into listening to radio in the morning and if at all I do, I listen only during late nights, when I’m copying journals (did I say copying ;-)) By then RTL was "HOT" and was real entertainer for us when we all friends used to get together at one place to finish up the last minute assignments ;-))
A charcoal engine of memories, though it makes me sad, somehow it puts a smile on my face. Wanting to get back to the past, I realize it makes me the better person today thus bringing me the smile. Anyway at this juncture I would suggest a pause for relaxation. I grant you a few minutes to recharge your batteries; Listen -
Born blind and deaf. All he knew how to do was nurse and move around a bit. 8 weeks young entering my house.. now almost one year old and have conquered my house! BOY am I happy :) take a peek~
Yes! I am aware now; having/raising a puppy is like having a 1-2 year-old. Until they are trained, they require pretty much constant supervision. After they are trained, they still require supervision until they are older. But then I believe life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, spicy dosa in the other, body used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOOOOHOO WHAT A RIDE!!!

Which was begun by Greg and Barbara Bertling to find homes for some of the wonderful, loving pets abandoned, lost or given up and scheduled for euthanasia at area shelters. Beautiful morning as we left the houset and began our walk, sun was still down and I was very aware of the river in the air, embracing us with a comfortable coolness and tickling our nostrils with her perfume. Not going to last as it is said to reach the highs 100s today.
Anyway I have to say that my main goal this week was to get this puppy to do something, anything, for me without me having to resort to making the pup work. Oh BTW, he climbs up the stairs to my room now! So he IS getting ready!
Subramani jumped up and down, waving its front legs (hands) around and generally trying its best to get a raise out of me. It was funny! So anyway I 've been very busy with my little buddy teaching him; housebreaking, Subramani has been pretty good at not having accidents in the house, I take him outside and he goes. He’s getting good at staying by me outside that I do not have to take him out on leash.
But what I am working really hard on, is getting him to Socialize; I’ve made a point to be sure to play with his feet, put my hands in his mouth to remove things, and touch his food while he’s eating. This will help to make him a lot less aggressive as he gets older. The only thing he has a bit of a problem with is when I put my hands in his mouth to take something away. He tries to make a game of tug-of-war out of it by clamping down harder. I’ve just been firm and not pulled, but sternly said “drop it” while holding the item, and he usually loosens his grip enough for me to take it.
Times flies, Yes! But then it is truly amazing to see how quickly our Subramani kutti had grown from little wriggly bundle of fluff into sharp toothed, sharp clawed little monster!!! It seemed like last week we were worrying about how fragile he is - now, I was out with the nail clippers to smooth off the first razor sharp nails. And as for those teeth......
