Mercedes - I drive

Explore..
I've trade my 2013 Malibu to get a NEW Mercedes C300 Sport. It has been 3 days since I got it and figured it would be nice to share my thoughts.

Some background: This is my first very own Mercedes since I've had my license. I have rented them, drove my friends but this is different. It is mine - well technically will be mine soon as I pay off the loan ;)

Exterior:  Love it. Every line flows beautifully, a great combination of subtle and aggressive with a slight lean on aggressive with the Sport body style. The Arctic White paint job shines brilliantly in the sun and the seemingly glows in the night with reflections from cars and street lamps. It basically blends in when I want it to and still manages to turn heads. And the fact that it matches with my Bright White Jeep Wrangler is AWESOME!!

Interior:
This thing is a vault. A comfortable vault filled with great materials from the seats to the dash. The seats are made of a hand sewed leather.. pretty comfortable. The dashboard materials are a matte soft touch plastic with trim, everything from the stalks to the buttons feel top notch.

POWAHH:
Perhaps this car is a dog to most but for me it is great, it puts out 248 hp and 251 pound feet torque. It defaults to ECO mode on Start up which includes Start/Stop engine tech and starts you off in second gear. For all the traffic I've dealt with in the city this function has saved me a lot of gas. At first I thought it was a gimmick and it would be annoying (Start/Stop) but it's seamless. Switch over to Sport mode and that's when the C300 comes alive, it puts down it's power quickly when I need it and I can easily get up to speeds that are beyond what's posted. The C300 is a 4Matic with a rear bias and it handles exceptionally well especially around tight bends. Many people complain that AWD isn't fun but I've been having a blast!

Ride:
Amazingly comfortable even with these 3rd world country roads that Baltimore Dept of Transportation haven't maintained in a decade. It absorbs bumps with ease and never feels harsh.

My Closing Thoughts:
  • When you get a Mercedes Benz, people's whole perception of you changes. Friends expect you to blow money fast when you are reluctant to spend money on crap, no I don't want to spend $18 to see the Dracula Untold "But you gotta Benz yo!" they retort. To me this is just a car, a car that hit all of the things that I wanted for a price that fit perfectly in my budget.
  • People want to race, all the time. I'll be at a red light minding my own business and a guy will pull up in his Acura TSX, stare at me, chirp his wheels and speed up to the next stop light. I then casually drive to the next light taking full advantage of the ECO Start/Stop. This also takes place on highways with various BMW/Audi drivers attempting to prove to me that their German car is best German car. I never entertain it for a second.
  • Men grill me. I can be at a red light and look around and see a guy with this angry look on his face staring right at me whether they are in another car, standing on the corner or crossing the street with their girlfriends. It's this look that says "I don't know who you are but I hate your stupid face and your stupid car".
I casually look away because that's lame and jealousy is a female trait.
  • Girls grill me. I can be at a red light and look around and see a girl with this sultry look on her face staring right at me whether they are in another car, standing on the corner or crossing the street with their boyfriends. It's this look that says "I don't know who you are but I love your sexy face and your sexy car".
All in all I'm happy and I thank Mercedes Benz of Cataonsville for making all of this possible!
Here she is in the morning after getting 30% tint all around:

Cruise!

I have just returned from a cruise – I hope you didn’t miss me too much. The cruise in question was a 1-day trip to NY from B'more.

I have to confess that cruise trips have never appealed to me greatly, not least because it sounds so middle aged! The other problem, of course, is that cruises are so darned expensive, but this problem was allayed by my employer scoring me a remarkable deal, so I was out of excuses. Hence, I gave it a go!

The ship is huge. I knew that cruise ships were huge, but until you actually get right up to one you really don’t appreciate just how huge they are. I mean, it was massive! Not so much a floating hotel as a floating city. And actually I had a pretty good time. I will be posting pics and more detailed post soon :)

It is 2 AM and I am standing at the crosswalk on the corner of 5th avenue. As I walk towards 42nd St. I notice Times Square is quiet tonight.

It is not silent, mind you – no, the “city that never sleeps” could never be silent. It is 3 AM and the gaudy charmer still churns, twists, flashes its vitality of energy and movement – “You CANNOT miss this show! Buy your tickets now!” Coca-Cola sign, M&M's World, Barclays, Macys, laughter bubbles cold winter “would you mind taking a picture of us?” girls in pink uniforms flash-dance camera in front of a set with Ryan Seacrest. Jenny McCarthy sizzles in front of a 100 flashing cameras a feet away; Pretzels, Mary Poppins, Starbucks; grande skinny vanilla lattes, smoke from cigarettes, American Eagle . . .all and yet, Times Square is quiet.

I stand here – in the midst of all the bustle, honking, explosive color and lights – and the world suddenly blurs, its violent contrast abruptly muted to an almost harmonious hum.

And in the pulse that remains along its softened edges, I find what I have been searching.

Visit Mandi

I recently came across the blog "Tengo ganas de viajar" roughly meaning I have a desire to see you. The author of the blog is Mandi Schmitt, one of my employees sister who makes extraordinary trips across the globe. She is now in India, and I must say that her blog is for readers/writers that understands what one might go through in trying to get that travel experience out of his/her subconscious. The blog is refreshing in many ways.

I am not recommending because she is in India now but because she writes with captivating passion and most of all being true to herself. So, go on and start reading it for your self here:

Driving Back...

105mph - 115mph consistently took me 2 hours and 45 minutes to reach Baltimore from NY today! I had a very very busy(fun) Sat night. Let see, I have just returned from this years "the most driving in 48 hours". Some how I get this feeling that this is just the beginning of many such drives to come this year..

But,It was FUN! As many of you folks know I LOVE to drive :) And love to take pictures :)

On my way back from NY I was listening a beautiful song from the Movie; Indru Nee Naalai Naan. I have not seen or heard of the movie but the song is AMAZING! I am in love!! Sang by S Janaki, the song depicts the sexual, sensual desire of a girl who is in love for the first time. I'm not really sure how I can best present everything about the song in words so listen here:

Although I was listening to a variety of songs from different languages and times.. this song really caught my attention. I think it was the simplicity of the song. Yet it did not fail to convey the emotion. The song came out in 1983!

The five - ten minutes I spent siting down to be cartooned on the platform at Times Square were way better than the hour and a half I spent in finding parking. I am amazed at the talent and more at the sale price of the amazing art of crayon drawings!

Well anyway right after my return from NY, I had to get back in the cockpit of my Matrix to (fly) drive down to Eastern Shore to visit my investment property. At this juncture let me please ask you to visit this link where I have an add for the house. I would appreciate every help that you guys can offer in helping me find a tenant ASAP!

So there you go, a total of 785 miles in less than 48 hours. It is now 8:25pm and I finally get some time to sit down!
