2006, for a great new financially free year!

1950, A very bad practice was established.. One that actually has negative financial consequences for most Americans, Diners Club and American Express launched their charge cards in the USA, the first "plastic money".

In 1951, Diners Club issued the first credit card to 200 customers who could use it at 27 restaurants in New York. But it was only until the establishment of standards for the magnetic strip in 1970 that the credit card became part of the information age.

Just so you know, every time you transfer accounts from a higher interest to a lower interest card, or from a fixed interest to no interest card, or from one zero interest to another zero interest card as most Indians do, you damage your credit rating.

Simply because, each time you change cards.. The new credit card company does a credit check on you. The more credit checks they(credit bureau) see and the more card changes that are made simply to keep from paying off the cards, the more creditors presume you can't pay and the higher of a risk you become.

Insurance companies, for example, use your credit information to assign you a risk category. You are assigned a higher auto insurance premium if you have a lower credit rating than if you had a higher one. I also came to understand it is because there is a direct correlation between credit ratings and automobile accidents for instance.

If you go for a mortgage, you could find yourself paying a higher interest rate simply because you keep transferring balances just to avoid paying on principal.

The bottom line, is that there is a negative consequence to this kind of behavior that simply transfers balances without ever paying them off, and it actually costs you money even if you aren't aware of it.

So the best strategy is to pay off your cards as soon as you are able...Even with zero % cards....And you will actually improve your credit worthiness by doing so.

So you know..

Atma, which is attached to the material body, is of course clouded by desire. My one line story of Mouna Ragam. Though mostly unknown lousy films, KTV does treats me with some decent ones like this.Revathy thru the first half seems to be selfish, rude & heartless person to deal with till our hero enters. If there is one segment in Mouna Raagam that never fails to charm, it is Revathi's flashback that introduces Karthik. While almost every romantic hero in Manirathnam's films since then has had shades of Karthik's Manohar, the character here captivates us even more since it is fresh and original. His "Mr. Chandramouli routine" and his antics in the bus and the library are cute and charming. The role made Karthik probably the first Tamil heartthrob since Kamalhassan and laid the foundation for his then long stay in Kodambakkam. A fun movie to watch. Try and see it for your self sometime.

Sorry for the lack of recent updates. But, How are you all?

Over the weekend I was struck by something and this --> seems to be exactly how I feel about it. In science, which is how I am educated, reality to me means; to see, touch, smell, and hear
---> tangible things in this world.

But there have been times when I felt that there is more out there. There is a spiritual world. Maybe not in the religious definition, but I do think there are spirits around us, guiding us. There is a purpose for my life.

There may be something I should be doing in this life to prepare for the afterlife, to prepare for the spiritual afterlife. This is the concept that is so contradictory, inconsistent, conflicting, ambiguous ---> paradoxical for me.

How could this be real if it is not in this physical world? I just can not get past this. But I know that my soul has felt things that can not be explained in this real world.

QUOTE FOR THE DAY = "People cheat because they’re afraid. The world is run by fear, my friend."

KING KONG, I would say this is a pretty good remake of a movie and I'm sad to say that it won't be doing big in the box offices even though at times it should.

Everyone knows the story...crew finds ape, ape hooks up with girl, ape goes back to NYC, ape dies. But Mr. Jackson either needs to learn the word 'cut', or utilize his editors. Two hours in I looked at the time a was dumbfounded that the storyline had not yet taken us back to New York.

Kong himself was perfectly animated (acted out by Andy Serkis) and his facial movements were highly expressive without being cartoonish. I felt I was watching an actual 25-foot ape. The scenery of the island was especially stunning. The CG was done very well visually throughout the film, but the animations through many of the action scenes seemed a little too fluid and blurred, and I never felt any danger whatsoever from the other creatures.

Jurassic Park may have used more animatronics but I believe the effect in that film was more realistic and frightening.

Brilliant! 4 inches of snow by the morning is what I heard last!!! I am not sure about you but I am not looking fwd to that. It is not because I don't like snow but.. Yes, when the ground has a thick layer of fresh, fluffy snow, most people around here cannot drive for nuts.

Today has been cloudy and gloomy. I have patched and fixed everything I could as far a work goes..anyway my two cents to you guys out there; come to a stop VERY slowly and VERY gradually. Not only does this ensure that you will stop in time, but whoever is behind you is less likely to run into you :)

Ermm let see it is 4:38 a.m. when I wake up from a total of four hours of fitful sleep punctuated by formless dreams. Early..very early Tuesday morning. My first rumination is that I'd rather be asleep, but since its a want and not a need, I don't have much say in the matter but move forward. Insomnia will not bargain, as I have long-ago learned. The moonlight shines through the jittering leaves outside, falls through my window and paints idiot faces on the wall ;) I threw on clothes, socks, shoes; I've no idea what I'm wearing because I did not turn on my lights. As I was saying.. don't want to spoil the lovely, dark peace of this quiet hour. I manage to make my way all the way through the house without bumping into anything; silent testimony to how long I've lived in this place. How well we know each other!

Confession on the dance floor

"You'll find the gate that's still open even though your spirit is broken."
I am addicted, Madonna, 47, has made her confessions..which is rather punk.
"Confessions.." is a mutant in the current music industry, no ballads, no gaps between songs, just one relentless, thumping album is far too internally focused, and it lacks as well a big artistic construction in the manner of "Like a Prayer"
"Time goes by so slowly for those who wait. No time to hesitate"
Despite this, Confessions On a Dancefloor is a solid achievement and well worth hearing. In Madonna's words from "Like It Or Not," the closing song,
"This is who I am, you can like it or not, you can love me or leave me, cause I am never gonna stop."

Je suis trouble, Et quand tu me parles,
Quand ton regard croise le mien,
Je ne sais pas quoi faire
Est-ce qu'un jour mes reveries deviendront realite?
Consacre a tous les amoureux!

I now realize that my inspiration is my experience which I want to share. So you guys out there can learn from it and maybe help me get better at it. Anywayz I went to get a new wrist watch last night. I was at the Watch Station in Arundel Mills looking around when this young lady walked up to me asking if she may be any help.

Looking at her I came to know that she is young and single... now thatz a plus plus++
I am not saying this always works but it did for me yesterday, I started asking her about watches then her job, schl, social life and blah blah.. at a point where we were just talking for more than an hour.. Basically I was flirting to get me a good deal.

My strategy was to show her that I'm reasonable, I might have started by saying, 'I know this is a little out of the ordinary but would it be possible to...' u know.. But I also had to help her shorten the band so it would fit my wrist..

And Guess WHAT? I am no guru but I got an employee discount of 55%, no joke! bought a $225 watch for $145!!
Anyway take a look below to see some of the features of my black force..

Shock Resistant
200M Water Resistant
Auto EL Backlight with Afterglow

As I was chatting with my good old friend yesterday, I came to know that one of my old class mates' brother commited suicide. And that too for a love failure??, I am told!!! WHY??

How stupid can one be, not to realize that he is being loved by so many others including the obvious, his immediate family.

I guess it is about how well a person copes depression, love/drug/alchohol/work related problems, medical issues, etc... directly affects their suicidal tendencies.

But I still think it is not the sollution.. keep in mind that most of the time depression is a passing mood. The sadness, loneliness, grief, and disappointment we all feel at times are normal reactions to some of the struggles of life... more over I think big part of the depression is thinking people aren't going to help you.

Before you get to that satge all I say is look around to see that Love Actually is all around you.

I am not a therapist..

Like Kakha Kakha the film starts from the ending. For starters, I’m a big Jim Carrey fan. Secondly, the story line is literally storm-tossed at the viewer. What’s real, what’s fantasy, what’s flashback are all tumbling about together. It dizzies the mind but it also challenges it.

A smart, intelligent story that looks at relationships and how they go from first love to self-destructiveness as time goes on. Ultimately “Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind ” asks it’s audience, “If you knew how your relationship would end, would you start in the first place?” Only you can answer that.

I'm still here. Just very busy with work. We've been undergoing some changes and it's been a lot of work, pure hell, if you will.. though I am doing pretty well...
My production margin has now been increased to some what up there.. SO.. Yeah!
But of course there is always a lesson learned ....
I often see successful people have the ability to act quickly and make decisions. The decisions may not always be correct but at least they tried. I also think/have seen people who struggle to succeed are often incapable of acting quickly and therefore miss many opportunities. A syndrome I like to call as as "analysis paralysis" they investigate to the point that the opportunity disappears once they are ready to act.
If you suffer from that syndrome the best advice I can give you is the profound statement by the philosopher from NIKE who said "Just do It" ...
That of course does not mean you should act hastily , but don't over "think".
As I tell my self:
People have problems they need to have solved, and my job is to offer exceptional solutions -- not better sales pitches! Yes! Welcome to my world of "you must be the expert in a niche and be able to be a problem solver NOT just another loan officer"

Good service is expected..

“You must have mistaken me for someone else,” says Sarah Morton (Charlotte Rampling) early on in Francois Ozon film Swimming Pool.
I’m not the person that you think I am.” Nor is Swimming Pool the movie that you think it is; As the movie starts out as an interesting but straight forward character study involving a famous writer of mysteries who gets marooned in a house with her publisher’s nubile young daughter, and eventually morphs into a mystery not unlike one would expect the fictional Morton to write.
This film has it all: South of France, where Limoges The city where I learned to say Bonjour:) is, excellent lead performances from one of my favourite Ludivine Sagnier, cinematography, sex, murder, and many iconic symbolisms. And at the end, you will have your own view of the flick, mine was "good writers are insane in the membrane ;)". Il se peut toutefois que j'aie tort, alors dites-moi !!!
4am! What WAS I doing up that late!? Totally dumbstruck by this amazing film - ...in a way it reflects the way the movie is - it quietly goes about it's business not causing any trouble, then you suddenly realise how amazingly profound and important it is, by which time it's 4am and you need to catch up on some Z's!

It seems to be the same with some people!

"Jegan, take care of the car, drive carefully, remember your are supposed to obey the speed limit!" You know, enough is enough! First of all I never had any accident prior to the recent ones . It is not all my fault!!!! And what is it with " you are supposed to obey.."

"Supposed" is a dead word. which means it (supposed) is a word without an actual prototype behind it, so your sentence is basically meaningless... equivalent to an animal grunting. An expression of emotion. Let me ask, is there a good reason to drive the speed limit?
Aren't speed limits, in reality, arbitrary?

After all... different vehicles, different drivers, different traffic conditions and different weather conditions make for a different safe speed. Even on a road which is slightly curvy where the speed limit is 55, whats wrong with hitting 70 on the stretches?

In any event, thats not what I meant, it is just a general observation about how silly it is that it is generally accepted that we are to become angry at people who drive the speed limit.
Rememeber your strict adherence to other peoples rules, without any amount of logical thought is quite unfortunate.

And just so you know; I drive the speed limit too. But thats because I'm not an especially good driver yet and me driving the limit has nothing to do with the arbitrary limits set by some unknown face to me! A strong believer in learning each & every step on my own!

Hear me tight!

Are you too weak??
The road is rough;
You have to be tough;
Ain't no point with tears;
You have to break your fears;
Don't let the mind disguise itself,
Many ways to manifest yourself,
Remember;
It is ok to be weak at times but not weaker when!

Well, everyone knows it is the Navarathri season. Today on the Saraswathi Pooja, like the swan (Sraswathis Vahana) is known for its peculiar characteristic of being capable of separating out water from milk.

Indicating that we should possess discrimination in separating the bad from the good I went on to do my (also) Car pooja..Heavily influenced by my Mother :)

So as to bring about a successful and fruitful coming year in all my doings and to keep my car/myself safe from bad influences. Some random shots of my silent tiger above :)

Shh..Shh.. I am trying to listen to my new 182 cubic inch (3 Litre) 5 Speed Manual OD - extra quite DOHC motor (used in Lexus models) has a sophisticated fuel injected 4 valve per cylinder, normally aspirated design that puts out 200 very smooth horses. It also generates 245 lb-ft of torque that provides quite an acceleration (60mph in 6.7s) kick at low rpm, without straining the engine. Adds (sound) power when sliped a CD into the in-dash CD changer turning on the superb 8 speaker 200 watt JBL sound system. You can't hear a damn thing except the music ... audiophiles of my kind might wanna buy this car just to get the sound system, ain't no speaker rattle here even with the bass pounding out of a Thanga Thamarai Magale!

Till you take a honest inventory of your strengths, abilities, talents, virtues, and positive points you won't be responsible :)
And only by working out anger, hostility, pessimism, and depression over past hurts, pains, abuse, mistreat, and misdirection will you be held high :)
It's a trend I notice in many of my friends including me; pointing fingers, rather take responsibilities!

Hear me tonight
'Cos my feeling
Is just so right
As we dance
By the moonlight
Can't you see
You're my delight

Lady
I just feel like
I won't get you
Out of my mind
I feel loved
For the first time
And I know that it's true
I can tell by the look in your eyes

The above song by the French band Modjo released in
2001 seems to be ringing in my ears everyday now..

Man I feel Like a Women..

So I went shopping with my kin today. It was originally just for a carton of butter milk, but we also needed other "stuff." It turned into a total shopping spree at the hippest of stores: Shoppers Food Warehouse. But they have actually done a good job of re-vamping their image.

For instance, I found a carton of milk to be $3.99 at Safeway and the same for $2.99 @ Shoppers. The shopping was easy. Brother and I knew exactly what we needed and could find it easily. The only draw back was when buying some things... I had to keep telling myself, "They're clean. They're wrapped in boxes and plastic. No need to panic."
I shop like a guy, "I know what I want, just give me five minutes..ermm..or some time to find it.", but show off like a girl; "And these were ON SALE!"

I figured I owe it to Shoppers.
After-all every penny counts!

Hey! Ram

Ram Ram, hey hey Ram Ram, Ram Ram Salaam Hey! Ram Ram
Where there is no longer poverty, there will be no-violence.
Where there is happiness, there a myriad lights will shine.
Darkness will not go, light will not come, it will not bring morning…
(just saying) Ram Ram, hey hey Ram Ram, Ram Ram Salaam Hey! Ram Ram
Who knows when Judgment Day may come?
Who knows when you and I may lose our way?
All that is in your power here is to act,
And the consequences of actions no one can avoid.
O Friends, let our religion be humanity! Friends, Let it be humanity!
Learn from what is past, but think of the present and future.
Those who are gone are truly gone, not even their shadows remain.
Today, O People, light the lamp of love, O People, light the lamp of love!

Ram Ram, hey hey Ram Ram, Ram Ram Salaam Hey! Ram Ram

Watching Hey! Ram, a glimpse of yesterday, from a vantage angle, but a temporary height called today last night, I was struck by the detail and also the way Kamal presented past and present. He changes the cinematography concept of past and present. Where most directors would portray the past in black and white footage, Kamal reverses it. He portrays the present in black and white. I thought that was brilliant. Hey! Ram is an important and must-see film,
a visceral and visionary experiment in mainstream Tamil/Hindi cinema.
Hats off to Dr. Padmashree Kamalhassan.
btw, look out for the English version of this marvelous movie titled Confessions of the Assassin.

I am not superstitious, but as I was watching 12B last night I asked myself; why do we, Hindus break coconut (sitharu kai) in the temple? The known explanation; Breaking your ego is symbolized when breaking the coconut. My explanation; To release the stress from our mind and body before beginning the day.
What is yours?
Learning to look at the lighter side of a problem. I believe in the teachings of Bhagvad Gita - Do your duty, leave the rest to Him. Stronger believer in God, I think laughter brings us closer to God. So take this lightly yet deeply! Humor is the religion today’s man needs. The problem is, however, that this cannot be done without changing the normal interpretation of certain tradition/believe. Break free your natural tendency 'cause it not always right!

Whether you plan to eat healthier, get fitter and trimmer, quit smoking, land that new job or are eager to simply organize that clothes closet ;) ... discover inspiration on how to keep those resolutions you've made work for you in 2006... 'cause these guys have; Some of the new/redesined highlights of the road below in no order:

Vibrant Infiniti: Infiniti by Nissan unleashes the all- new M35, a true harmony of sensuous styling, engaging technology and driving excitement offered in V8-powered M45 and V6-powered M35 versions. Both versions offer a sport package with 19-inch split 5-spoke alloy wheels, sport-tuned suspension, and rear active steering. The M35x features the ATTESA E-TS (Advanced Total Traction Engineering System for All Electronic Torque Split) all-wheel-drive system. Bose Studio Surround Sound System is standard.

The 'off-road' Jeep: A registered trademark of Chrysler Corporation Division, offers the all- new entry in the full-size SUV segment Commander offering: the 335-horsepower 5.7-liter V8 with the Multi-Displacement System, the 235-horsepower 4.7-liter Power Tech V8, and the 3.7-liter SOHC Power Tech V-6 engine.

Lexus: The next-generation Lexus IS challenging both the Infiniti G35 and the BMW 330i comes out later this year with 3.5-liter V6, the new sport sedan will have more than 300 horsepower, a 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters will be standard has no Stick shift :( booo !

Volkswagen: VW the owner of Audi, Bentley Motors and Bugatti brings in the next-generation Passat, longer & wider, 3.6-liter narrow-angle V6 that produces an impressive 280 horsepower, teamed with a six-speed Tiptronic the 3.6 will spawn an all-wheel-drive Passat 4Motion. Also expect the “new" New Beetle.

Bavarian Motor Works : 3-Series debuts with an all-new design that blends 3-Series character with new styling elements from the 7-Series and the 5-Series, offers a nearly ideal blend of sportiness, luxury, and safety. The redesigned sedan should have agile handling and smooth 3.0-liter engines powered by a 255-horsepower, 220 lb-ft of torque. Also expected to arrive stateside this fall is the 500-horsepower M5 sport sedan, followed shortly thereafter by its M6 sibling.

Honda: The first Japanese manufacturer to produce cars in the U.S brings out their eighth-generation model CIVIC with all - new fancy look. One of the best small sedans, great fuel economy 1.8-liter single overhead cam 4 cylinder with a new generation of i -VTEC. Horsepower is 140, up 10 to 21 percent from the 2005 Civic engines, while maximum torque now is 128 lb-ft at 4300 rpm, up 12 to 16 percent from the predecessor Civics.
The Civic Si, which comes only with a 6-speed manual and no automatic offers 2.0-liter double overhead cam 4 cylinder with i -VTEC is the most powerful ever for Civic. It generates 197 horses, up 23 percent from the 2005 Civic Si. Torque peaks at 139 lb-ft at 6200 rpm, which is up only 5 percent from its predecessor.

To sum it up what makes 2006 different is the sheer number of all-new performance, or "tuner" versions, coming from some of my favourite models.

Also check out these concept cars:

The exciting 'Concept T' by VW, 177 kW / 241 bhp V6 engine accelerates the Concept T to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds; its top speed is an electronically governed 180 m/h.
