Not sure if you noticed the clever rehash of the tune of Athiradee song from Sivaji...Also the female chorale humming in the prelude of the song is the streteched version of the catchy guitar phrase in Athiradee...
Disappointed with the album in total..Has a feel similar to some of recent Harris's songs...(possibly same rhythm programmers ;-))
"Disappointed with the album in total" I was waiting for you to say that...but was not expecting to hear "noticed the clever rehash " CLEVER?! ithu thanea venamingirathu!!!! the bugger ran out out of saraku and it is obvious through out the album! Melisayea from Romeo becomes Kelamal, Kumiadi from SOK becomes Nee Nathaswaram Ma Vie, a French song by Amine becomes Nee Marilyn Monroe..much more just cant think right now...
Talking about Harris Jayaraj songs! Ha! Guy who cannot even come up with new tunes and just giving some variations on beat, in his all movies. Come on guys, ARR learned the style from Illaiyaraja and Harris learned from ARR, so I don't know how ARR tunes feel similar to Harris. I'm not trying to back up anyone. First, I’m not a fan of ARR (now) or Harris. I do listen to them in some extent, but not like a crazy fan. I would say that the quality of the songs has gone down now a days and I better off with 80s and even 50s. Also, I won't say that I was totally disappointed with Sivaji songs, cos some of were still good to listen to. Especially Vaaji, Sahana and Athiradi songs. The great thing about those songs were the lyrics and tunes. For example, "Thalai muthal kaal varai thavikintra thooratai ethazgalil kadanthuvidu", from Sahana, was simple and shows what she was expecting from his man. It's not easy to come up with great lyrics or good music. We don't have to praise it but please don't complain it. Instate you can say I was expecting more from this composer but he was failed to do so! Simple! Shankar. S
My concern is not with the lyrics but with the musical notations over which the lyrics are coming out..ARR had no role with the Sahana song's lyrics coming out so beautifully.
About ARR's musical prowess, there is no questioning about that... It's more about his drive to compose well for Tamizh movies..Again he probably has his own reasons for what he delivers..
I am Jegathpriyan, reflecting you like a mirror. So whatever you are, bring it on. I am whatever you think I am. I don't see a need in trying to alter your perceptions about me as I know the only way you will ever know me is if you ever come up & talk to me and not stay a mile away and try to judge me! To the people I love, my unconditional love is forever. ""The unexamined life is not worth living""
