Ring out the old, ring in the new,
Ring, happy bells, across the snow:
The year is going, let him go;
Ring out the false, ring in the true.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

2006, for a great new financially free year!

1950, A very bad practice was established.. One that actually has negative financial consequences for most Americans, Diners Club and American Express launched their charge cards in the USA, the first "plastic money".

In 1951, Diners Club issued the first credit card to 200 customers who could use it at 27 restaurants in New York. But it was only until the establishment of standards for the magnetic strip in 1970 that the credit card became part of the information age.

Just so you know, every time you transfer accounts from a higher interest to a lower interest card, or from a fixed interest to no interest card, or from one zero interest to another zero interest card as most Indians do, you damage your credit rating.

Simply because, each time you change cards.. The new credit card company does a credit check on you. The more credit checks they(credit bureau) see and the more card changes that are made simply to keep from paying off the cards, the more creditors presume you can't pay and the higher of a risk you become.

Insurance companies, for example, use your credit information to assign you a risk category. You are assigned a higher auto insurance premium if you have a lower credit rating than if you had a higher one. I also came to understand it is because there is a direct correlation between credit ratings and automobile accidents for instance.

If you go for a mortgage, you could find yourself paying a higher interest rate simply because you keep transferring balances just to avoid paying on principal.

The bottom line, is that there is a negative consequence to this kind of behavior that simply transfers balances without ever paying them off, and it actually costs you money even if you aren't aware of it.

So the best strategy is to pay off your cards as soon as you are able...Even with zero % cards....And you will actually improve your credit worthiness by doing so.

So you know..

Atma, which is attached to the material body, is of course clouded by desire. My one line story of Mouna Ragam. Though mostly unknown lousy films, KTV does treats me with some decent ones like this.Revathy thru the first half seems to be selfish, rude & heartless person to deal with till our hero enters. If there is one segment in Mouna Raagam that never fails to charm, it is Revathi's flashback that introduces Karthik. While almost every romantic hero in Manirathnam's films since then has had shades of Karthik's Manohar, the character here captivates us even more since it is fresh and original. His "Mr. Chandramouli routine" and his antics in the bus and the library are cute and charming. The role made Karthik probably the first Tamil heartthrob since Kamalhassan and laid the foundation for his then long stay in Kodambakkam. A fun movie to watch. Try and see it for your self sometime.

Sorry for the lack of recent updates. But, How are you all?

Over the weekend I was struck by something and this --> seems to be exactly how I feel about it. In science, which is how I am educated, reality to me means; to see, touch, smell, and hear
---> tangible things in this world.

But there have been times when I felt that there is more out there. There is a spiritual world. Maybe not in the religious definition, but I do think there are spirits around us, guiding us. There is a purpose for my life.

There may be something I should be doing in this life to prepare for the afterlife, to prepare for the spiritual afterlife. This is the concept that is so contradictory, inconsistent, conflicting, ambiguous ---> paradoxical for me.

How could this be real if it is not in this physical world? I just can not get past this. But I know that my soul has felt things that can not be explained in this real world.

QUOTE FOR THE DAY = "People cheat because they’re afraid. The world is run by fear, my friend."

King Kong

KING KONG, I would say this is a pretty good remake of a movie and I'm sad to say that it won't be doing big in the box offices even though at times it should.

Everyone knows the story...crew finds ape, ape hooks up with girl, ape goes back to NYC, ape dies. But Mr. Jackson either needs to learn the word 'cut', or utilize his editors. Two hours in I looked at the time a was dumbfounded that the storyline had not yet taken us back to New York.

Kong himself was perfectly animated (acted out by Andy Serkis) and his facial movements were highly expressive without being cartoonish. I felt I was watching an actual 25-foot ape. The scenery of the island was especially stunning. The CG was done very well visually throughout the film, but the animations through many of the action scenes seemed a little too fluid and blurred, and I never felt any danger whatsoever from the other creatures.

Jurassic Park may have used more animatronics but I believe the effect in that film was more realistic and frightening.

God's call I answer
Rivulet of tears
Trickling down my cheeks.

Painful shed of blood
Sudden stop of beating hearts
Innocent people being sacrificed around us.

Oh why...
The world's gotta be suffering
From all of these.

And why...
The world's gotta use violence
And not settle down in peace.

Violence all over the world.. read here!

Brilliant! 4 inches of snow by the morning is what I heard last!!! I am not sure about you but I am not looking fwd to that. It is not because I don't like snow but.. Yes, when the ground has a thick layer of fresh, fluffy snow, most people around here cannot drive for nuts.

Today has been cloudy and gloomy. I have patched and fixed everything I could as far a work goes..anyway my two cents to you guys out there; come to a stop VERY slowly and VERY gradually. Not only does this ensure that you will stop in time, but whoever is behind you is less likely to run into you :)

Dark yet bright!

Ermm let see it is 4:38 a.m. when I wake up from a total of four hours of fitful sleep punctuated by formless dreams. Early..very early Tuesday morning. My first rumination is that I'd rather be asleep, but since its a want and not a need, I don't have much say in the matter but move forward. Insomnia will not bargain, as I have long-ago learned. The moonlight shines through the jittering leaves outside, falls through my window and paints idiot faces on the wall ;) I threw on clothes, socks, shoes; I've no idea what I'm wearing because I did not turn on my lights. As I was saying.. don't want to spoil the lovely, dark peace of this quiet hour. I manage to make my way all the way through the house without bumping into anything; silent testimony to how long I've lived in this place. How well we know each other!
