Hariharan 2007 Concert!!!

Hariharan, one of the few audience friendly singers regaled us last night evening with some great numbers including Ghazals, Thumri’s, Hindi, Telugu, Marathi and Tamil songs. We, audiences truly appreciate and acknowledge the fact that Hari could easily get the mix of old and young going, singing with him and at times clapping with him.

Ennai Thalata was one such occasion where we were all singing along with him, even the non Tamil speaking! He sang many of his popular Ghazals like Kaash, Roopa Roop, Eh de Masti Hain; movie songs like Tu hi re, Roja jaane man, Ennai thalatta varuvala, Yadein, Woh Lamhe, Ayingarau Veetu, Nila Kaaygiradhu, Aye Hairathe Ashiqui, Neloori Nerajana, and many others….including my favorite Krishna Nee begane baro from Colonial Cousins. His vocal range and the ease at which he moved across the highs and lows – phenomenal! The vocals of Hariharan enlivened his age.

The way he always begins a song in a totally different way (Alaap), before getting into the actual lyrics of the song was really one of the interesting highlight that kept me and the entire audience guessing what song he was going to be singing, and this surely was something (a music fanatic) like my self enjoyed with Chanda re/Venilave from Sapnay/Minsara Kanavu. Also Aye Hairathe was special as Hariharan himself sung the ‘Dham Dhara Dham Dhara Chashm Chashm”, with great ease and power unlike some so called issai puyal ;) lol

Anyway I would post more later (with Pictures).. but you have to wait as I have to get back to work now :)
